API Alfred was founded by the software agency cod8.io in autumn 2021 as an internal tool.
The idea came from Martin (CTO) who was dealing with the following problem again and again.

The majority of projects needed a REST API. Some clients had OpenAPI specifications but most contracts needed new APIs and there was always a discussion about what these should look like.

The same applies when building a product. First, agree on the API’s definition and then the frontend and backend teams can work independently.

Using tools like swagger is just too much. We needed a simple definition – endpoint, request, and response. Something everybody understands without needing to write overwhelming YAML definitions. We always ended up with a simple set of tables in a Word document. Each describes the API. Not cool. That’s why Alfred was born.
